Love Handle: Lil Beaver Brewery

No humanitarian crisis is as pervasive as hunger. Around the world, millions of people live without access to food and clean water. Roughly 15 million households in the United States alone are food insecure. For this month's Love Handle we are partnering with our friends at Lil Beaver Brewery to donate to the Midwest Food Bank, an organization that works to alleviate hunger and malnutrition locally and around the world.

Last month we brewed a collaboration with Lil Beaver called Big Dam Scoop, a golden stout that mimics the flavor of Fried Ice Cream.  $1 from each pour of Big Dam Scoop will be donated to the Midwest Food Bank to support their efforts. Chad, the head brewer and owner of Lil Beaver has worked for the Midwest Food Bank in the past, so this seemed a natural opportunity to reinvigorate our Love Handle and support a great organization.

In Chad's words: "Midwest Food Bank is a private non-denominational faith based organization which provides free food to other non-profit organizations who help those in need.  The bulk of the food distributed  goes to food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters, but there's also programs for providing food to grade school children over the weekends, and disaster relief efforts.  The organization started on a small family farm in Central IL, and has now spread to locations across the US, and also has efforts in Haiti and Africa.  Disaster relief efforts are in full swing with the recent hurricanes, and Midwest Food Bank has sent over 20 semi loads of food and cleanup supplies to the effected areas."

We hope you'll join us and raise a glass to ending hunger, both at home and around the world.
