A BOTANICAL ENGAGEMENT

On Saturday, February 20, Chef Dan ran across the street to Epic Spices to pick up some kitchen ingredients. (If you haven’t yet visited this West Town spice purveyor, you should check out their amazing selection of 400 different spices and ingredients. Owner, Steven Tobiason, is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.) While Steven loaded Dan up with two pounds of Gochogarou Chilis for our brewpub popcorn, a nearby couple took note of Dan’s bulk purchase and inquired about his order. They introduced themselves as Sean and Erica, and the trio chatted about Forbidden Root. Living right around the block, they were intrigued. Dan invited them to come back to the restaurant for a tour, and they happily obliged.

A few hours after they’d visited the brewery and restaurant, Dan got a text from Sean giving thanks for the tour and saying he wanted to propose to Erica at Forbidden Root. Dan and the FR staff were obviously thrilled to assist in the surprise. We set up the Rootmaster Room, complete with champagne and flutes. That night Sean texted Dan as they neared the restaurant. When they arrived, Dan directed them upstairs and left Sean to his big question. Erica said, “Yes!” and the rest is history.

Sean & Erica, we wish you the heartiest of congratulations, as well as a lifetime of joy, good cheer, great food, and excellent beer!
